What is Life Fasting Tracker | Features review | bottom line
If you’re looking to jumpstart your intermittent fasting journey, or simply want to make things easier, intermittent fasting apps can be a helpful tool. However, if you’ve decided to go down the app route, you might be overwhelmed with all the options showing up in your App Store (or Google Play Store).
In this article I will introduce you to the app I’ve been using to track my fasts – Life Fasting Tracker.
If you’re new to intermittent fasting, the Life Fasting Tracker app is a great place to start. It’s simple to use and has all the features you need to get started with fasting. Plus, it’s free! That’s what attracted me to it in the first place.
But what about the features? Let’s dive in.
What is Life Fasting Tracker
Life Fasting Tracker is an app that helps you keep track of your intermittent fasting journey.
It’s one of the most popular intermittent fasting apps both on the App and Google Play Store. At the time I’m writing this article (mid-2022) it has 87k ratings on App Store (average 4.8) and 24k on Google Play Store (average 4.6). Not a bad start!
Life Fasting Tracker positions it as an app for both beginners and more experienced people with fasting and has a social element to it with its Circles feature (more about it later). After all, science backs the fact that accountability and peer support are important when trying to make lasting changes in your lifestyle.
Life Fasting Tracker Features Review
But first, let’s start with how to use Life Fasting Tracker. I have to say that the app is pretty straightforward to use.
At the beginning, you need to create an account and log in. You can do this with your email address or through Facebook or Google accounts.
Once you’re logged in there’s a short guide on how to use the app and its features and you’re good to go!
Now we can take a look at the most important features of the app.
Fasting Tracker
This is what most (if not all) people looking for an intermittent fasting app are interested in tracking – their fasts.
The fasting tracker is the first thing you see when you open the app. You start and stop your fasts manually by tapping “Start Fast” or “End Fast” buttons on the screen and adjusting the length of your fast with simple + and – buttons. Nothing fancy and that’s intentional.
You can set targets, and track your mood throughout the fast and a feature that I really like – it shows the approximate time when you will be getting into ketosis. That’s the sweet moment when your body starts to burn fat for energy.
Of course, the app also has all the essentials to keep track of our previous fasts and your progress. You can log a lot of data like changes in your weight, waist circumference, ketones and blood glucose. That’s incredibly useful for people with diabetes who want to use intermittent fasting to better manage their blood sugar levels.
The app also keeps track of how many days you’ve fasted, your longest and shortest fasts, your average fasting duration and times per week and all the other essential data you need to track your fasting progress.
I of course, like my personal record board where I can see all my fasting records, like total hours fasted or the longest fast which would be useful for prolonged fasters.
Circles
This is the social element I mentioned earlier. Circles are basically groups of people who are fasting together.
You can join or create a circle and invite your friends to it. This is a great way to stay motivated and accountable as you’ll be able to see how other people are doing and interact with them.
I found this very useful, especially as I didn’t have any friends or family members who were interested in fasting with me. You can just join a circle of like-minded people and get all the support you need.
There are circles for particular fasting schedules, circles for women, people who want to lose weight or gain muscle and much more. You will for sure find something for you.
Learn Feature
On this part of the app, you can find resources to learn more about intermittent fasting. You can choose among articles and videos on various topics like the benefits of fasting, how to start and what to expect during different stages of fasting.
While the idea is good, I was feeling like this was the part of the app that could use some improvements. You can’t really search for a particular topic, you just need to scroll through the articles and videos until you find what you are looking for.
Still, this was not as crucial for me anyways as I normally do my research beforehand. I just used this part of the app to check if there was anything new that I haven’t heard of yet.
Group Coaching
This is a paid feature of the app that gives you access to sessions with certified health professionals. They hold sessions about a particular topic and you can join the ones that you’re interested in. You would have to pay to access these sessions but that gives you an option to join them live and ask questions.
Seems like this feature is at its early stages as there are not many sessions available yet. It’s still something to look out for in the future as it could have a lot of potential. However for now I’m focusing on why I downloaded the app – the actual fasting tracker.
Fasting Coach
This was a pleasant surprise. Fasting Coach is a part of the app where you can get one-on-one coaching from certified health professionals.
You can schedule a call with them at a time that suits you and they will help you with whatever fasting, nutrition or health-related questions or issues you have. Sessions start at just 20 USD so it’s very affordable.
This is a great feature, especially for those who are new to intermittent fasting and need some extra guidance and support.
Marketplace
This is basically a place with tools and assessments that will help you with your fasting journey. While the name marketplace might indicate that it’s paid, most of the things here are actually free.
You can do free health assessments like step test assessment, cardiovascular health calculator, anxiety severity assessment and even access a tool to upload your images to track the visual changes during your fasting journey.
Offers
Offers is where you can browse special deals from LIFE Fasting tracker partners. You can order fasting teas, breath ketone monitor, wireless scale and other products that might be of interest to you.
I personally haven’t used this feature yet but from time to time I end up browsing through the offers to check if there is anything that I need.
LIFE + Premium Subscription
While the most important features of Life Fasting Tracker is free they also offer a premium subscription. LIFE + gives you access to some exclusive features like custom fasting schedules, more extended fasting reports, access to subscribers-only Circle, and other things.
It’s very affordable – just 3.5$/month so it wouldn’t make a difference in your monthly budget. That’s if you feel like any of the premium features are something that you need.
I personally use the free version and it’s more than enough for me but I can see how someone who is more serious about their fasting journey might find the premium features useful.
Life Fasting Tracker Review: The Bottom Line
All in all, I’m very happy with the app. It’s been a great help on my intermittent fasting journey and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is starting out or is looking for a tool to help them track their progress.
The app is constantly being updated with new features and improvements so you can expect it to get even better in the future.
Here’s what I particularly enjoy in Life Fasting Tracker:
- It’s free! There aren’t that many great fasting apps that are free but Life Fasting Tracker is one of them.
- The interface is very user-friendly and easy to use. The app is very simple to use, no long surveys, questions, or anything like that. You just open it and start tracking your fast.
- It has all the features that I need to track my progress and it also has some great bonus tools like the fasting coach and marketplace.
- I love that the app is always being updated with new features, improvements, and bug fixes. The developers are constantly working on making the app better which is very much appreciated.
The bottom line is, that if you’re looking for a great intermittent fasting app, Life Fasting Tracker is definitely one that you should check out. After all, it’s free so you have nothing to lose.
